Behind the Scenes of Scarabajo Botanical's Discovery Park Photo shoot
When I finally reached out to Atenas (the artist behind Scarbajo Botanical), I already had a vision and a Pinterest board ready to go because I’d been dreaming about the fairytale photo shoot we could create together for weeks. I was transfixed by the brand because of Atenas’ palpable joy for botanical printing and her deep connection to nature. All the plants she uses are sustainably collected here in the Pacific Northwest. Each unique print she creates is a reverent acknowledgement of the beauty, power, and inspiration that we draw from the natural world.
Working with Atenas was just as magical as her creations. She was delighted with my ideas for her brand photo shoot and brought all the enthusiasm and laughter we could need. Together, we planned, researched, and gathered the perfect team of creatives to help bring our concept to life. I spent hours location scouting and eventually decided on one of the best photo shoot locations in Seattle: Discovery Park. I have done multiple brand photo shoots at Discovery Park and will definitely do many more. The diversity, beauty, and convenience of this spot are unmatched!
We were hoping for sun on shoot day, but of course Seattle had other plans. A large part of being a successful brand photographer (and human in general) is adaptability. So, we rolled with the cloudy skies and created magic anyway. This brand shoot was an incredible experience I’ll never forget because of the effortless creative teamwork and working with my favorite kind of client: a sustainable Seattle small business.
