If you own a business then the short answer is: YES! Professional branding photos are essential for presenting your brand in a consistent way that appeals to your ideal clients. We decide how we feel about a photo almost instantly. If you’re not being intentional about your visual content, you’re going to give a lot of people the wrong idea, or possibly no idea at all. People are going to keep scrolling if your content doesn’t speak to them immediately. Brand photos that are specific to your values and goals will give you more confidence in your business, illustrate your professionalism, and allow your current and potential clients to feel connected to you at first glance.

Connect with your Dream Client

A good brand photographer will help you capture photos that your ideal client will connect to. You don’t just want pretty photos for your socials and website, you need photos with purpose. Though we make split-second decisions about content as we scroll, it takes a lot more effort and intention to create photos that tell your story. Details matter. Location, wardrobe, props, poses, and overall concept all make a difference in how your brand photos are perceived. I take a significant amount of time to get to know my clients and their businesses. I ask all of my clients to tell me their story, who their ideal client is, how they want clients to feel, and what their unique offering is. I even have them tell me some words, phrases, and emotions that align with their brand and incorporate all of this into our photoshoot.

Boost your confidence

Taking the time to really get to know your brand and who it aims to serve will help you achieve photos that are in alignment, as well as boost your confidence and motivation. FOMO makes it scary to get specific, but narrowing down brings clarity. Decisions become easier because you’ll know what path you’re on and where it leads. It’s encouraging to share content that truly represents your business. Your clarity will be passed on to your audience, making it easier for you to help the people who will benefit most from what you offer, fueling growth and improvement.

Professional APpearance

Investing in professional photos shows your people that you’re serious about your business. They will feel more connected to your brand, be clear on what you offer, and see you as a professional in your niche because you believe in yourself. Though professional photos do not necessarily equal dependable brand, it can definitely feel that way - especially in those split-second decisions. You might as well give your business that extra polish to help your audience see that you can successfully deliver what you’re promising.

The right time

So, do you need brand photography? Eventually, yes, I would say that you do. But keep in mind there are hundreds of things that go into running a business. It is definitely possible to generate business without professional photos in the beginning. Most of my clients come to me when they’ve been in business for a little while and have reached a tipping point. They’ve learned a lot about their business, how they want to operate, and are ready to level up. If brand photos have been on your mind, start putting money aside and looking for the right photographer. There’s no rush. Let it be a creative and fun experience that propels you forward!
